19th July 2010 - 5th City and GCC Countries Conference - Partnering the Broader MENA Region
The IPFA is pleased to announce that the Middle East Association would like to invite IPFA members to register to attend the 5th City & GCC Conference, which will be held on Monday 19th July at the Merchant Taylors' Hall.This prestigious event is being kindly sponsored by Europe Arab Bank, HSBC, Qatar Financial Centre Authority (lead sponsors) and The Bahrain Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution, The National Bank of Abu Dhabi and DLA Piper. This follows the highly successful June 2009 event which brought together over 250 financial sector representatives from the Gulf and their City of London counterparts.
The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Nick Anstee and Lord Sassoon, Commercial Secretary to HM Treasury will give the Opening Address at the Conference. Leading industry practitioners and experts will deliver Keynote Addresses and will examine the latest trends in the GCC and London markets. There will be four interactive panel sessions and a buffet lunch will be served to enable networking. Some of the key topics discussed will include:
• Financing Infrastructure and Energy Projects in the MENA Region;
• The Development of Asset Management in the GCC and the Role of the City in this;
• GCC Capital Markets: Restructuring Following the Global Downturn;
• Regulatory Reform: Improving the Business Environment and Financial Sector Transparency.

Senior financial sector representatives from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are being invited to address the conference and participate in the panel discussions. As in previous years, this conference will be an excellent and high-level networking opportunity and will showcase the GCC and London financial services sector. The rapid development of new financial centres across the Gulf has created new challenges and opportunities for City of London and GCC cooperation.
