S&P Global Ratings – Why Most UK PFI Projects Should Prove Resilient To The Repercussions Of The Grenfell Tower Fire

On July 28, 2017, the UK government announced plans for an independent review of building regulations and fire safety following the Grenfell Tower fire in June. Public attention to the event and its aftermath continues to be intense. Consequently, there is pressure on UK policy makers to take action, and we expect them to propose changes to fire-safety-related laws and regulations. This short commentary considers the potential effects of any such initiatives on the credit quality of the UK-based accommodation project financings rated by S&P Global Ratings.
