Jean Monson joined MUFG in 2019 and is based in Singapore. Jean is the Head of Infrastructure of Project Finance Asia at MUFG Bank Ltd. Jean is an experienced UK-qualified lawyer and investment banker having advised clients in the UK and Asia Pacific over the last 17 years. Jean is a market leading debt infrastructure professional in the international debt capital markets and private bank market. At MUFG, Jean has advised, originated and executed numerous award-winning transactions in energy and infrastructure. Prior to MUFG, Jean was a debt originator in Barclays Capital’s Debt Capital Markets team in London and Singapore. Before moving into investment banking, Jean started her career in Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (London) as a lawyer. Jean is a renown thought leader in Energy, Infrastructure and ESG. She is a regular speaker and contributor to international platforms, including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Asia Pacific Loan Market Association (APLMA), IJ Global, Project Finance International (PFI), Moody’s, International Project Finance Association (IPFA), W.Media and has curated podcasts at MUFG. Jean is an APAC judge for the IJ Global Awards 2025. Jean is also an alumni of Bloomberg New Voices, a global database of senior female experts in business and finance across Bloomberg’s media platforms. Jean is a qualified Solicitor of England and Wales and holds a Masters in Law from Brasenose College, the University of Oxford (United Kingdom) and 1st class honours in Law (LLB) from Bristol University (United Kingdom). Jean has completed the University of Cambridge Sustainable Finance course and holds a CFA Certification in ESG: Investing in ESG. Jean is the Chairperson of the IPFA Asia Council. Jean is a contributor and guest speaker for universities, IPFA and Green Finance courses.
