Roger is a project finance lawyer and partner of Bird & Bird. Roger specialises in project finance with a strong focus on the financing of digital infrastructure (such as data centres, optic fibre networks) and renewable energy (including solar, battery storage, geothermal and battery storage). Roger’s experience includes PPP/PFI (DBFM(O)), property development, property finance, including the finance elements of concessions for public transport, water, energy and waste. He advises on a regular basis financial institutions, investors and sponsors. Having worked in private practice for more than 20 years as well as an in-house lawyer for a Dutch bank for a number of years, Roger has a good understanding of the commercial positions that need to be reconciled for financing transactions to successfully reach completion. Roger uses this experience to help parties achieve consensus during what can be long and complex negotiations, especially in project finance where many parties could be involved with potentially a conflict of interest.
