AI in Rail – Harness AI Today for the Railways of Tomorrow
This article was produced by Ashurst, a member of IPFA.
In October 2024, Ashurst started a UK rail AI conversation in earnest with a group of 20 industry leaders. The lively discussion addressed the unique opportunities presented by AI, as well as the risks it poses to the rail industry. It took place against the backdrop of the DfT’s forthcoming AI strategy and the EU AI Act entering into force.
It is clear that AI technology presents enormous opportunities, with huge potential for reward, when used appropriately and correctly. In this paper, Ashurst’s team shares thoughts on how to successfully navigate current regulation, seize opportunities and appropriately manage risks which may arise.
