ESG and Access to Capital: The Mid-market Needs to Stay Alert
This report was produced by Grant Thornton, a member of IPFA.
Grant Thornton’s survey of nearly 50 UK-based lenders sheds light on how ESG is influencing access to credit and take-up of sustainable finance for the mid-market. While challenging economic conditions have led firms to prioritise other issues, mid-market firms should not be lulled into a false sense of security. Lenders’ commitment to net zero transition continues to drive a focus on the ESG status of their mid-market borrowers. Firms need to stay ahead of their sustainability story to maintain access to cost effective capital.
