IPFA Special Interest Group | Sustainable Aviation Fuels

This SIG (Special Interest Group) was led by Dennis Trigylidas, Investment, Partnerships and Innovation Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada / Government of Canada.
For the second meeting, we had the pleasure of welcoming Michel Chornet (CEO of Enerkem) who spoke to us about his plans to commercialize SAF technologies.
Enerkem is a leading technology and project developer in the clean fuels space, and they have developed a proprietary technology for converting forest biomass into SAF, which received the prestigious “The Sky’s the Limit Challenge” hosted by Natural Resources Canada in 2022. This was a significant achievement in producing SAF from forest biomass, demonstrating a 93% reduction in GHGs relative to conventional jet fuel. Enerkem has also successfully delivered on projects that convert municipal solid waste into clean fuels. For more information, please consult their website.
