David Noble from Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance, joins our Branch Council in Australia

We are pleased to welcome on board David Noble, Director, Head of Partnerships Victoria at the Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance, as a new member of our Branch Council in Australia:

Our APAC Operations Manager, Samantha Best recently caught up with David to get to know him a little better:

Samantha: If you could personally change or influence one thing within infrastructure and/or energy, what would it be?

David: Great outcomes can be achieved in delivering infrastructure and services through effective partnerships between the public and private sectors. In Victoria, we have had a long track record of successful Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) under the Partnerships Victoria framework across a range of sectors, including transport, health, justice and education. We are also seeing a growing range of partnerships in energy, housing and precinct developments.

I would encourage all public sector agencies, consultants, investors and contractors, to continue to engage and problem solve, to partner together and deliver the critical infrastructure that will underpin the economic growth and social outcomes for Victorians and all Australians into the future.

Samantha: Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to yourself at the start of your career?

David: Every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow. Sometimes the most unlikely project can give you the chance to try something new or develop new skills. Many infrastructure projects are high profile and very intense. Being given the opportunity to develop innovative solutions, regardless of project scale, can be really rewarding and give you the opportunity to hone your skills for the next big project.

Samantha: What do you hope to bring to the council?

David: My role within the Victorian Government is to support the development of best practice partnerships between Government and the private sector to deliver infrastructure and services. This includes fostering greater collaboration between public sector entities and private sector entities to meet public policy outcomes through innovation and investment.

Joining the IPFA Council provides an important opportunity to further these objectives by facilitating greater engagement between members agencies, promoting industry dialogue and shared understanding, and influencing strategic direction for infrastructure policy and investment.
