New Asia Council Member from A&O Shearman

We are excited to welcome Scott Lovells, Partner at A&O Shearman, as the newest member of the IPFA Asia Council.

We asked Scott a few questions to get to know him a little better:

If you could personally change or influence one thing within infrastructure and/or energy, what would it be?

• It would be great to see governments take a long term view of energy and infrastructure that enables rather than hinders the development of energy and infrastructure projects in the region, regardless of politics. Energy and infrastructure projects are critical to the future development of the region and improving the lives of people across the region, and the more we can do to enable these investments and give investors long term confidence, the better.

Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to yourself at the start of your career?

• Be as open minded to a diverse range of views, and try to understand as much as possible where everybody on the room is coming from.

What do you hope to bring to the Asia Council?

• Energy, a diversity of experience and views of a variety of sectors and countries, a forward looking approach to the ‘next big things’ in energy and infrastructure.
