Tricia Curmi from Mott MacDonald, joins our Branch Council in the UK

We are pleased to welcome on board Tricia Curmi, Project Director at Mott MacDonald, as a UK Branch Council Member:

Bio:

Tricia Curmi is a Project Director at Mott MacDonald, delivering high impact, equity driven infrastructure across heavy civil infrastructure projects focusing on transportation and renewable energy. With twenty years end to end delivery experience—from strategic inception and procurement through execution and closeout—she focuses on programmes that strengthen communities and accelerate the transition to low carbon infrastructure.

Since relocating from Canada to London in 2022, Tricia has applied her international expertise to UK priorities, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and working across a range of financing and contracting models. Her portfolio spans major public and private schemes including JFK Airport, Future Port Talbot, Port Mann/Highway 1, the Sea to Sky corridor, multiple hydroelectric projects, and high speed rail.

Passionate about inclusive leadership, Tricia has sat on the Women’s Infrastructure Network (WIN) Steering Committee in British Columbia and led WIN’s nationwide outreach in Canada focusing on supporting young leaders since 2015. She also served as a mentor through Indigenous Clean Energy’s ImaGENation programme.

Previously, Tricia was Principal at Four Edge Consulting and held leadership roles at Kiewit in both operations and project pursuits, including multi-billion pound pursuits. She taught project management and engineering economics at the University of British Columbia (UBC), reflecting a commitment to developing future engineers. Tricia holds a MASc in Civil Engineering (UBC) and received WIN’s “Emerging Leader” award in 2015.

We asked Tricia a couple questions:

  • If you could personally change or influence one thing within infrastructure and/or energy, what would it be?

The infrastructure and energy sectors succeeds when projects are seen as interconnected parts of a greater system, considering every phase from initial planning through to long-term operation and future adaptation. By embracing this holistic approach, we unlock new opportunities for innovation, strengthen transparency, and foster inclusive leadership. Through greater collaboration and a sustained focus on the full project lifecycle, we can create flexible, future-ready infrastructure that responds to changing needs and delivers lasting value for communities.

  • Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to yourself at the start of your career?

If I could offer advice to my younger self, it would be twofold. Firstly, invest time in truly understanding your core values, and have courage to shape your career around them—even if it means making difficult changes. Secondly, know there’s a powerful difference between rising to a challenge that builds resilience and growth, and persisting in situations that risk breaking your spirit. Seek out the former—embrace opportunities that stretch you but know when to step away from what no longer serves your well-being or purpose.
