Seamus Crilly from Equitix, joins our Branch Council in Ireland

We are pleased to welcome on board Seamus Crilly, Investment Director at Equitix, as a Ireland Branch Council Member:

Bio:

Seamus Crilly is a Director in Equitix’s Investment Team with a particular focus on greenfield investment opportunities and is based in our Dublin office.

Seamus joined Equitix in London in 2019 and is now based in Ireland, focussed on growing the investment business across all infrastructure sectors. He is committed to growing the company’s presence in the Irish infrastructure market and building its reputation as a leading partner of choice in Europe, both as developer and funder and active asset manager.

Seamus has many years’ experience of infrastructure development and finance. He began his career in infrastructure as a project finance lawyer before transitioning across to the development side of the business. He has worked in both the public and private sectors, (in the latter with other leading infrastructure developers and the investment arm of large international construction company) and in various geographies.

Seamus has a primary degree in Civil Engineering and is a qualified solicitor.

We asked Seamus a couple of questions:

  • If you could personally change or influence one thing within infrastructure and/or energy, what would it be?

Infrastructure is essential to so many aspects of our lives, and lack of it can have serious societal impacts. It works best when the public and private sectors collaborate effectively. If I could influence one thing, it would be to build a greater awareness and public acceptance of this partnership—particularly the critical role of private sector participation in delivering infrastructure. That would lead to more public support, which ultimately enables better outcomes for communities.

  • Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to yourself at the start of your career?

Infrastructure development and funding can seem overwhelming at first because of its complexity. But if you use each project as a stepping stone and learn from experienced colleagues, you’ll begin to understand how projects are structured, financed, and delivered. It takes time and each project will teach you something new, but if you embrace the challenge, you might be surprised how quickly confidence grows. That’s all part of the journey.
