Jensen Clarke from Fengate Asset Management, joins our Branch Council in Canada

We are pleased to welcome on board Jensen Clarke, Director, Head of P3 Business Development at Fengate Asset Management as a new member of our Branch Council in Canada:

We asked Jensen a couple of questions:
- If you could personally change or influence one thing within infrastructure and/or energy, what would it be?
Jensen: As someone who has been active in the P3 industry for 15 years, I continue to see real opportunities to improve how procurement is done – particularly when it comes to speed, coordination, and transparency.
Streamlining procurement in a more transparent way would be a meaningful first step, and involving private‑sector expertise earlier and more consistently could add real value.
Giving investors a more open, unfiltered opportunity to engage with project owners earlier in the process would help tremendously. As an industry, we want the ability to demonstrate our creativity and capabilities – and to help grow the mid‑market, rather than see it crowded out by government‑funded infrastructure platforms.
- Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to yourself at the start of your career?
Jensen: The road to success is long, and its definition will evolve over the course of your career. With that in mind, I would encourage infrastructure professionals to build a strong base of technical skills before moving into the development world.
I’ve found that professionals who are multi‑skilled tend to do very well. Beyond technical expertise, I would also encourage professionals not to overlook the importance of soft skills. Infrastructure development is inherently collaborative – each project truly takes a village.
- What do you hope to bring to the Canadian Council?
Jensen: The Council already benefits from a strong interdisciplinary skill set, and I hope to complement this by bringing an investor’s lens – while also illustrating how creative and value‑driven infrastructure investors can be.
I would define success during my time on the Council not only as promoting development, but also as helping create opportunities in situations where project owners may be facing challenges.
