James Lin from KPMG, joins our UK Future Leaders Network Committee

We are pleased to welcome on board James Lin, Infrastructure Advisory – Assistant Manager from KPMG as a new member of our Future Leaders Committee in the UK.

Bio:

James is an Assistant Manager in KPMG’s Infrastructure Advisory Group, with 3 years’ experience advising on financial and commercial structuring, project finance and procurement across heat networks, waste, renewables and transport projects in the UK.

We recently caught up with James to ask him a few questions…

IPFA: Finish this sentence: The future of infrastructure and energy is…

James: …increasingly interconnected, driven by the low-carbon transition, and requires alignment across government, industry and us as individuals. We can all choose to be part of the solution!

Decarbonisation means greater and greater electrification – not only in power generation, but in the way we heat and cool our buildings, our transport systems and in industry. Electrification across sectors compounds pressure on local energy networks, and requires coordinated investment, planning and delivery. Meeting this challenge requires action at multiple levels: government in setting the long-term strategy, local authorities to translate strategy into place-based solutions, private sector to finance and deliver the infrastructure, and individuals whose choices provide demand.

IPFA: What do you hope to bring to this Future Leaders Committee?

James: I’m particularly keen to increase attendance from those who are earlier in their careers. Having attended the Future Leader’s events since starting my career, I know how friendly and welcoming the community is, but I also know that attending events can be a daunting experience. Therefore, I’m focused on helping juniors take a chance, and come to their first few Future Leaders events.
