New Australia Future Leaders Network Committee Member from Capella Capital
We are pleased to welcome on board Harin Tennakoon from Capella Capital, as a Australia Future Leaders Network Committee Member:
We asked Harin a few questions to get to know him a bit better:
If you could personally change or influence one thing within infrastructure and/or energy, what would it be?
Improving accessibility of the infrastructure. To me this means delivering more infrastructure and doing it sooner.
To offer one practical solution it could be to move away from tick the box exercises that are being undertaken because ‘that’s always how things were always done.’ Making small changes like this would accelerate delivery and decrease the cost of it. It would also continue to attract young professionals that are excited to solve the challenging issues within our industry and make a positive change.
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to yourself at the start of your career?
Find a mentor: there are various pathways available to have a successful career. Finding a mentor that resonates with your style of working, values and ambition is a great way to map out your career pathways.
Say yes opportunities: a simple yes to participating in a new project, networking event, or even saying yes to grabbing a coffee with a colleague is a great way to get to build your network, understand nuanced issues within the industry and build your knowledge base.
What do you hope to bring to the FLN Committee?
I am looking forward to working with the Committee to bring together ideas from across the industry to grow IPFA’s people and knowledge base whilst fostering a sense of collaboration.
I hope to be able to contribute to the early to mid-career professionals’ network by bringing my perspective on infrastructure projects developed through my role as a private sector financier, investor, and developer (in my current role at Capella Capital) and previously as a public sector advisor (while at PwC).
