Matt Bonaventura from Queensland Treasury, joins our Branch Council in Australia

We are pleased to welcome on board Matt Bonaventura, Deputy Under Treasurer at Queensland Treasury, as a new member of our Branch Council in Australia:

We asked Matt a couple of questions:
- If you could personally change or influence one thing within infrastructure and/or energy, what would it be?
Matt: I would like to see continued improvement in the way governments and markets engage on risk, financing and delivery constraints.
More open, system‑level discussion of these issues can improve project design, reduce friction, and support better long‑term outcomes in infrastructure and energy.
- Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to yourself at the start of your career?
Matt: I would remind myself to stay open to change and not expect a straight‑line career. Being willing to try different roles and environments turned out to be valuable, even when it felt uncertain at the time. The broader perspective that comes from those twists and turns has mattered more than any single early decision.
- What do you hope to bring to the Australia Council?
Matt:I hope to bring a central‑agency perspective focused on system stewardship, governance and practical delivery considerations. My aim would be to support balanced, informed discussion between government and industry grounded in real‑world constraints.
