New Australia Council Member from SMBC

We are pleased to welcome on board Tarek El-Rakshy from SMBC, as an Australia Council Member:

We asked Tarek a few questions to get to know him a bit better:

• If you could personally change or influence one thing within infrastructure and/or energy, what would it be?

The Digital Infrastructure growth story and the role Project Finance can play; We need to provide the discipline, rigour, analytics and more importantly capital to take the emotion out of dealing with the above issues and logically assess, promote and develop projects and solution that look to tackle these issues.

• Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to yourself at the start of your career?

Expand your networks, align yourself with people that inspire you, become a sponge for knowledge.

• What do you hope to bring to this Council?

Potentially setting up sub committees to explore some of the ideas / initiatives that can then report back to the Council for strategic direction/guidance.

Need to get buy in and ownership of these initiatives from the members and then endorsement from the Council that this is within the defined parameters and strategy of IPFA locally.
