New Netherlands Branch Council Member from DevCap

We are pleased to welcome on board our newest Netherlands Council Member:

Willem Stitselaar, former Senior Managing Director Infrastructure and Energy and Head of Benelux at Macquarie Capital and founder of Dev Cap

Willem is a principal investor, building an investment platform in Energy and Digital Transition. With more than 26 years experience in the infrastructure investment industry, he financed large infrastructure assets through the development, investment and management phases of their lifecycle.

Until recently Willem was Senior Managing Director Infrastructure and Energy and Head of Benelux at Macquarie Capital, where he worked for 17 years since setting up the Amsterdam office in 2005. His recent transactions include the Joint Venture with Carlyle for the development of Gigawatt scale green hydrogen platform HyCC and a number of landmark PPP transaction such as the A9 BAHO, the Maasdelta Tunnel and the New Amsterdam Court House.

Since January 2023 he is the founder of a new investment company bringing development capital (DevCap) to transition projects including digital, energy and mobility. He is currently involved in Energy-as-as-service projects (including EV charging infrastructure), new generation power projects and Digital Infra.

Before joining Macquarie Willem worked at ABN AMRO’s Infrastructure Capital and PricewaterhouseCoopers both in London. He started his career at DePfa Bank in Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Dublin.

We asked Willem:

If you could personally change or influence one thing within infrastructure and/or energy, what would it be?

Create more risk appetite for capital to accelerate much needed new technologies and developments.

Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to yourself at the start of your career?

Learn, be open minded and enjoy every moment

What do you hope to bring to the Netherlands Council?

Bring fresh new content and grow the network especially on Energy and Digital transition
