Olivia-James McKeown from Macquarie Group, joins as Future Leaders Committee Member in Asia

We are pleased to welcome on board Olivia-James McKeown, Executive (Infrastructure), Real Assets, Macquarie Asset Management as our newest member of the Future Leaders Committee in Asia.

Samantha Best, IPFA’s Operations Manager for the APAC region asked Olivia some questions to get to know her better.

If you could personally change or influence one thing within infrastructure and/or energy, what would it be?

An acceleration in the build out of scalable, modular energy systems – such as microgrids, small modular nuclear reactors and distributed renewables. In my view, these technologies sit at the intersection of two defining pressures facing infrastructure today: the need to decarbonise and the energy required to power increasing AI workloads. By building energy systems that are resilient in light of these pressures, communities will be more equipped to lead technological progress with a view to long-term value creation.

Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to yourself at the start of your career?

  1. Growth is on the other side of your comfort zone.
  2. Try to seek out / lean into challenging work assignments early-on as a way to maximise learnings.
