Pavlena Rangelova-Werner from KfW joins as Germany Council Member
We are pleased to welcome on board Pavlena Rangelova-Werner, Director Digital and Energy Infrastructure from KfW IPEX-Bank GmbH as our newest member of the Council in Germany.
Originally from Bulgaria, Pavlena pursued her academic studies across Europe, completing a BSc in International Business Administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, an MSc in Banking and Finance at the University of St. Gallen, and an MSc in Infrastructure Investment & Finance at University College London.
She began her career in 2015 with DC Advisory in Frankfurt, where she developed a strong interest in the infrastructure asset class. In 2019, Pavlena joined the Infrastructure department at KfW IPEX-Bank, focusing on PPP project finance (particularly in transport and social infrastructure) and digital infrastructure (including fibre, data centres, and towers).
Following several years in this role and a rotation within the bank’s syndication team, Pavlena is now Head of the London-based Infrastructure team at KfW IPEX-Bank.
Laura Cafora, IPFA’s Operations Lead for Europe asked Pervlena some questions to get to know her better.
If you could personally change or influence one thing within infrastructure, what would it be?
I would make sure that high, but simultaneously straightforward, financially accessible and implementable sustainability standards are applied across the globe and form an even more important component of stakeholders’ decision taking than today. A key item here would be effectiveness and affordability – to the highest possible extent less paperwork, less cost, more speed and understanding of what is needed in a given context.
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to yourself at the start of your career?
Be as curious as possible and don’t be shy to use absolutely every opportunity to ask questions that would expand your knowledge – you do not need to work out all the answers yourself.
What do you hope to bring to the Germany Council?
Positivity, pragmatism and just by virtue of having a new person on the team – a boost to new, fresh exchanges amongst members.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Alexander Jacobs for his valued contribution as he steps down from the Germany Council.
